The Exhibition
EXTERNALISE, our 2021 Art Exhibition and Silent Auction was held on Thursday 16 September! This was the ninth year of the Footprints Art Exhibition and it was a fantastic night and a real celebration of creativity.
In previous years, our exhibitions have featured talented artists from our Footprints community — clients, staff, volunteers, and their family and friends. This year, to celebrate our special 30 Year Anniversary year we decided to expand the event and include artists from further afield.
This year, the venue for our exhibition was Lightspace in Fortitude Valley. It was the perfect space to display so many amazing artworks, it really was quite spectacular!
Those who attended enjoyed delicious food, entertainment by Machine Age, a fun photobooth and the opportunity to view and bid on some fantastic pieces of art.
The Theme
This year, the exhibition was themed ‘Externalise’ and aimed to showcase art that demonstrates the experience of releasing internal personal journeys one may undergo, with a positive outlook. This is the sharing of our inner selves with others to create connection and inclusion.
Some of these wonderful artworks can be found in our photo gallery, they certainly captured this year’s theme beautifully!
Peoples’ Choice Award
On the night, attendees voted for their favourite piece of art and the winner of the People’s Choice Award went to Peter R for his captivating painting titled ‘Chasandra’. The artist received a $100 Art Shed gift Voucher – congratulations Peter!
Silent Auction and Donations
By participating in the silent auction, attendees supported local artists and Footprints Community with 90% of the sale of each piece going to the artist and 10% to Footprints.
Donations were gratefully received on the night to help raise funds to reach our $74,000 target to upgrade the Footprints van we use to provide transport for client activities.
Everyone donating $10 and over received a crochet flower pin made by our Footprints Community, as a little thank you. Those donating $30 and over on the night, went into the draw to win a water colour painting by international artist, Stuart Bullock. The lucky winner was our CEO, Cherylee Treloar!
If you couldn’t attend the night and would like to donate, it’s not too late. All donations are gratefully accepted.
Thank you!
So many people made the night a success and we would like to extend a big THANK YOU to:
- • the Lord Mayor’s Community Fund and Central Ward Councillor for their generous support
- • everyone who attended and purchased art works – approximately 50 pieces were sold on the night!
- • everyone who made a donation on the night
- • all of the artists who submitted pieces
- • our MC for the night Penny Tarrant
- • Songwoman Maroochy Barambah for the Welcome To Country
- • all of the staff and volunteers who helped to make the night a success
- • Lightspace for their fantastic venue
- • The Tasty Pocket for their wonderful catering
- • Machine Age for keeping everyone entertained.
We hope everyone enjoyed themselves and we look forward to seeing you next year for our 2022 Art Exhibition and Silent Auction!
