Legal Resources
Navigating legal issues can feel overwhelming, especially during times of housing uncertainty. These resources have been selected to help older women access reliable legal information, understand their rights, and find support when facing challenges related to housing, finances, relationships, safety, or other legal matters.
Seeking advice and information early can help you make confident decisions and connect with services that can support your wellbeing and housing journey.

Community legal organisations such as Women’s Legal Service Queensland (WLSQ) exist to provide assistance to vulnerable and disadvantaged clients.
They are often the first point of contact for people who live and identify as women in Queensland seeking assistance, or their last resort when all other attempts to seek legal assistance have failed.
They have special concern for all women and children who face additional discrimination for reasons such as, but not limited to, poverty, destitution, social class, race, age, religion, disability, and sexuality.
What they can support you with:
- Advocacy, community, and sector-wide engagement
- Family law
- Domestic and family violence
- Sexual assault (Counselling Notes Protect)
- Law reform
