Community Transport
Community Transport supports eligible clients to access and stay connected with their local community, resulting in increased social and community participation and wellbeing.
Who is this program for?
Services through Community Transport are available to people who experience transport disadvantage and are:
- Under 65 years of age, and
- Unable to access, or have limited access to, other transport options, including public or private transport or transport funded through other subsidised schemes, or
- An unpaid carer, travelling in their role as a carer

Program Key Support Workers assist clients to access and participate in their local community by providing vital transport support. This enables clients to maintain connections to work, social and health services, increasing community participation and wellbeing.
You may have trouble accessing other forms of transport because of:
- where you live
- your financial situation
- disability, mental health, or chronic health conditions.
You may use the service to travel to the bank or post office, hospital, medical or veterinary appointments, the pharmacy, shopping, the fitness centre, the library, the hairdresser, or other errands.
Community Transport may also be utilised for social and recreational outings, to maintain a connection with your community.

Be part of a great service and support people to stay connected to their community. By becoming a Volunteer Community Driver, you will:
- Support people who may otherwise be isolated
- Meet people in your community and make new friends
- Improve the quality of life for yourself and others
- Contribute to your local community.
As a Volunteer Community Driver you will:
- Drive clients from their homes to appointments and drive them back home
- Assist clients in and out of your vehicle when necessary
- Exercise a duty of care and ensure clients are safe and comfortable while being transported
- Respect clients’ confidentiality and privacy
- Maintain travel records
- Work collaboratively in a team and liaise with the Community Transport Coordinator.
