Queensland Community Support Scheme

The Queensland Community Support Scheme (QCSS) provides supports to people who have disability, chronic illness, mental health or other condition, or circumstances that impacts their ability to live independently in the community.

The range of support activities provided are based on your identified goals, with a focus on building your independence and capacity. This program is generally time-limited and supports you to live as independently as possible in your community.

  • Support to access the community
  • Assistance with household tasks
  • Personal care
  • Individual and group social support
  • Transport
  • Basic home maintenance

Who is this program for?

QCSS is for people who:

  • are under 65 years old (or under 50 years old for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people)
  • have a disability, chronic illness, mental health or other condition that has an ongoing impact on their day-to-day living and ability to participate in the community
  • be ineligible for the NDIS
  • are at risk of losing their independence without support and are not eligible to access similar supports through other means
  • live in the community:
    – in their own homes, whether owned or rented
    – in independent living units, caravan parks, self-care units, boarding houses, or in retirement villages where similar supports are not provided
    – are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

A range of Visa requirements also apply.
