Falls Prevention Program for Wide Bay Region

Footprints Community pleased to announce that we are now delivering a new Falls Prevention program in Queensland’s Wide Bay region, providing FREE support to older people in Hervey Bay and Maryborough, who have experienced a fall.

The program, which includes a Registered Nurse providing in-home assessments and support planning, aims to:

  • reduce risks of future falls
  • restore confidence, independence and quality of life following a fall
  • improve strength and balance and mobility
  • maintain and improve social connection.

The program also offers a 12-week LifeStyle Café program, which provides social connection, guided exercise and education in support of social and health needs, for those eligible to participate.

Our Falls Prevention program is available to people aged 65+ or 50+ for First Nations people in the Hervey Bay or Maryborough areas, who have experienced a fall at home or in the community, and have been referred via:

• the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service

• the Queensland Ambulance Service

• a General Practitioner.

Referrals from these services are received via email to fallsprevention@footprintscommunity.org.au
